Whole Home Water Systems

Home Products Water Treatment

System Details

How It Works

In a single tank, no larger than 12 inches in diameter and 52 inches tall, you have a complete whole home water treatment system that treats all the water in your home, both hot and cold. In addition, every part of the mixed media (the components within the tank) comes from natural resources.

Conditioner versus a Water Softener

All water softeners use the same operating principle: They trade the minerals for sodium or potassium chloride (salt chemicals) and salt ions go into the water. The process is called "ion exchange." So in layman's terms, water softeners remove calcium and magnesium, minerals intended for our body by replacing them with sodium. This means that your whole home is filled with salty, slippery water. To allow for salt free water to drink, a reverse osmosis system is usually installed under the kitchen sink to filter out chlorine, sediment and sodium added by the water softener. Because conditioning systems treat hardness without removing calcium, there is no need to add salt and no required user maintenance. You will also enjoy the health benefits of calcium and magnesium without the risk of extra sodium intake.

Medias in our systems include:

Quartz

The bottom of the tank is filled with quartz, which acts as the pressure regulator to maintain appropriate flow to your faucets. WORD OF CAUTION FOR BUYERS: There are many carbon only tanks on the market, but our research has shown that homes can lose water pressure without a bedding to allow for greater flow. Quartz is by far the best natural bedding that we have found and tested to date.

Granular Activated Carbon

The major component of the system is high grade Granular Activated Carbon (GAC). Carbon is used for filtering your water and you can find this solution is most refrigerator filters. GAC filters out bad tastes and odors, heavy metals and chlorine. Yet, our system has the unique ability to retain the healthy minerals in your water that nature intended while filtering out the harmful additives and substances which can adversely affect your health.

KDF®

KDF® Process Media are high-purity, granulated copper and zinc-based alloys that treat water through a process based upon the principle of redox (Oxidation-Reduction). Originally, KDF was shorthand for Kinetic Degradation Fluxion. KDF® media enhance the performance, extend the life, reduce the maintenance and lower the total cost of carbon-based systems. In addition, KDF® Process Media help control microorganisms by creating an environment that's deadly to some microorganisms and that interferes with the ability of many other microorganisms to function. Either way, the use of KDF Process Media results in the total elimination of some contaminants and a great reduction of a wide variety of others. Another WORD OF CAUTION FOR BUYERS: If you see a competitor offering a carbon based system that seems too good to be true and has an "extended" warranty or guarantee, be suspicious if the system has no KDF Process Media. In our experience, you can expect to severely limit the life of your system. KDF has also been used to prevent scale buildup. Please visit http://www.kdfft.com/ for all the details and benefits.
